avast! joins PC World "101 Fabulous Freebies" list

Prague – 11th April 2006: For immediate release: ALWIL Software is pleased to announce that avast! Home Edition has made it to PC World’s "101 Fabulous Freebies" List for the first time in the May 2006 issue of the magazine.

The list, chosen each year by PC World editors, is selected by each software or services features, design and performance. Each product had to be a fully functioning version of the software that consumers could obtain at no cost.

avast! Home Edition utilizes the award winning avast! antivirus scanning engine, and is a cut-down version of our multi-award winning Professional Edition, designed for non-commercial home use (both conditions being a license requirement.)

Commenting on the listing, Eduard Kucera, Joint President and CEO of ALWIL Software said: "This has been a very positive year for avast!, and our desktop variants in particular, and entering the PC World 101 Fabulous Freebies list is yet another achievement we are very proud of." Mr. Kucera continues, "Editors are not always the easiest of audiences to win over, but getting PC World editors to recognize the broad feature-set, good design and high performance of our Home Edition product really speaks volumes for how far we have developed avast! technology over the past few years. We believe it will only get better."
